About
Stephanie De Re received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her art practice is mostly painting, although some work is multi media. She takes inspiration from improvisational music. She mimics the musicians process of improv when creating abstract work. When making abstract work, she creates texture by using objects found around the studio or low end art materials to create fast movements and multiple layers. The marks and color selection in the paintings is chosen to mimic sounds visually. Stephanie also draws inspiration from the sky and the human body. Much of Stephanie representational work consists mainly of the human body or skycapes.
